In the 1949 movie Jolson Sings Again there is a sequence where Al Jolson insists he is too old to go and entertain the troops, they need a younger guy to do it, nobody remembers him? To which his manager replies "but all show business knows you"! The above three extracts show clearly that this is still very true!
